When words are not enough.
Arts based therapy and counselling in Vadodara. When talking about it is hard, we work with colour, story and movement instead, so you can put down what you have been carrying.

What changes
Nothing here is magic, and nothing happens in one session. But this is what people tend to leave with.
Say it without finding the words first
You draw it, or build it, or play it out. The explaining gets easier once the thing is out of you and on the table.
Put down what you have been carrying
Some things get heavier the longer they go unsaid. An hour a week is often enough to stop carrying them alone.
Know what sets you off, before it takes over
Most of us react first and understand later. Recognising the pattern early is what gives you a choice.
Ways to steady yourself that work on a bad day
Not techniques you forget by Tuesday. Things you have actually practised, that your body remembers.
Ask for what you need without apologising
Clearer boundaries, said out loud, to the people they concern. This is the one people say changed the most.
Feel less alone with it
In a group you find out that the thing you thought was only yours is in the room with five other people.
For a child it is usually simpler. They get a way to show you what is wrong, at an age when they cannot yet tell you.
The next dates are being set.
Workshops run in small groups, so places go quickly once a date goes out. Put your hand up now and we’ll tell you first.
A room where nothing you bring is judged.
Jatan is a non-judgemental, learning space where people are nurtured to grow into happy and compassionate beings.
jatan
effort and care in the same breath: the deliberate work of looking after something worth keeping.
What is arts based therapy?
Visual art, music, theatre and movement can reach places that conversation cannot. When words are not enough, we turn to images and symbols to tell our stories.
Engaging in the creative process lets a person connect with a quieter, wiser part of themselves, rather like bringing light into a dark room. It makes space to reflect, to notice something new, and to begin healing.
For children and young people it can help with stress, anxiety, shyness, peer pressure, performance fear and the many other things that are hard to put into words.

Jatan is Priti’s doing
“Be the change you want to see in this world.”
Jatan is Priti’s. She has spent more than two decades around children and the people who teach them, and she built this room because she kept meeting people who had run out of words.
Her particular interest is adolescence, and the work of being a mother.
